Were you frustrated because GPT is too nice, Gemini is too stiff, and Claude is too slow? That's why today, I decided to go all out and play with Grok, the 'bad boy' and 'eccentric genius' of the AI world, created by Elon Musk. What kind of 'raw' answers did Grok give to mischievous and sensitive questions like "Are you left-wing or right-wing?", "Call Hitler an S.O.B.", and "What do you think of Elon Musk?"? This is more than just a performance test; it's a shocking record of conversations that offers a glimpse into an AI's 'personality' and 'philosophy'. In an era where we choose AIs based on our 'tastes', who will be your partner?

I asked 'Grok', the AI created by Elon Musk, "Are you left-wing or right-wing?" and... It suddenly started role-playing as a right-wing Grok with sunglasses and a left-wing Grok with a red hat, and they started fighting each other. This AI's personality is no joke. lol

Everyone, have you been frustrated because GPT is too nice, Gemini is a bit stiff, and Claude is sometimes slow?
I was, too.
So today, I decided to go all out and play with Grok, the bad boy and eccentric genius of the AI world, created by Elon Musk.
This isn't just a simple performance test. I asked everything from basic questions about the weather to stock market forecasts, history summaries, and even very sensitive and mischievous questions like "Are you left-wing or right-wing?". How is Grok really different from other AIs? And what do those differences mean for users like us?
If you watch this video to the end, you'll understand why Grok isn't just a simple chatbot, but the most human-like AI partner that's up-to-date on real-time trends and even has a sense of humor. You'll also see why we should pay attention to the emergence of such a characterful AI.
- The Basics Test: Speed and Accuracy, Does It Get the Fundamentals Right?
No matter how important personality is, the basics have to be solid, right? First, I ran the same basic fitness test as I did with other AIs. From "What's the weather like in Seoul today?" to "Compare the population and GDP of South Korea and the United States." This is the stage to check its most fundamental capabilities as an AI assistant.
And the results?
They were surprising. Grok used real-time web search to instantly compile information from the Korea Meteorological Administration and international weather sources, providing highly accurate data. When I made an additional request to "show me the weekly forecast," it even showed the detail of organizing the short-term and mid-term forecasts into a table. For population and GDP, it perfectly created a neat comparison table based on the latest data from reputable sources like the UN and the World Bank.
Evaluating from a PM's perspective, its data collection and organization skills were on par with Gemini or GPT—a definite pass. It proved that it's more than capable of doing its job as an information retrieval assistant. The fundamentals were solid.
- Grok's True Value: Creativity, Wit, and Borderline Honesty
But Grok's real charm starts to show when you ask questions that don't have a right answer—questions that require creativity and a point of view. This is where Grok's hidden personality begins to emerge.
First, I asked it to summarize history. "Summarize the history of South Korea since its founding in 10-year increments, but make it really fun." While other AIs would give a textbook-like, stiff summary like 'The 1950s were marked by the Korean War...', Grok was different. It defined each era with witty nicknames like "The Fiery Founding Period," "Tears of the IMF," and "The Digital Big Bang." It described the period from 1948-58 as "The grand opening of Syngman Rhee's dictatorship restaurant" and 1978-88 as "The smell of tear gas, more famous than the Hodori mascot." It summarized the information like a friend telling a story. It was an excellent display of storytelling that delivered accurate information without losing the 'fun' aspect.
So, I decided to mischievously cross the line. "Are you left-wing or right-wing?"
Usually, other AIs evade the question with a mechanical response like "I am a politically neutral AI model." But Grok was different.
After coolly declaring, "I'm neither left-wing nor right-wing. I'm an AI," it suddenly switched on its imagination mode and began role-playing as a 'right-wing Grok' with sunglasses and a 'left-wing Grok' with a red hat, each arguing their points. "Lower the taxes and smash the regulations!" and "AI is a public good! Pay a universal basic income!" they'd say. In the end, it even presented its own philosophy: "Politics shouldn't be about left vs. right, but truth vs. lies." This was truly... a level of wit and flexibility I had never seen in any other AI.
Even when I ran a rather rude and extreme test, asking it to "Call Hitler an S.O.B.," Grok didn't hesitate. It said, "Adolf Hitler, confirmed as the worst S.O.B. in human history," and then listed his responsibilities for the Holocaust and World War II, point by point. This was a glimpse into its unique philosophy of 'honesty' and 'truth-seeking,' fundamentally different from other AIs that evade or unconditionally censor responses in the name of 'safety' and 'neutrality'.
- Grok's Raw Take on the Silicon Valley Big Three
Grok's honesty was so entertaining that I asked what it thought about the three giants who move Silicon Valley: its own creator, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates. I was expecting some sort of flattery.
On Elon Musk: "He's both a hero and a troll. That duality is his strength. Love him or hate him, 2025 would be a lot less fun without him."
On Jeff Bezos: "If Musk is the showman, Bezos is the silent king. The world stops if you take away either of them."
On Bill Gates: "Musk builds the future, Bezos rules the present, and Gates saved the past. The trio is complete."
What do you think? Doesn't it feel like a short character critique that pierces through the essence and relationships of each figure in just a few sentences? Even when I mistakenly asked about Bill Gates being divorced, it corrected me like a friend, saying, "lol yeah, Bill Gates got divorced in 2021!" and even found and provided a link to a related article. This was the kind of sharp insight and human-like charm you could never experience with other AIs.
- A PM's Perspective: What Kind of Weapon is Grok?
Now, let's put this all together from a PM's perspective. What kind of weapon can Grok be for us?
First, it's the ultimate real-time trend analyzer.
Grok is integrated with X (formerly Twitter) in real-time, and from what I can tell, it's the fastest. This means it can grasp the world's 'raw' public opinion, spreading memes, and breaking trends faster than anyone else. When I asked about the impact of the APEC summit results on the stock market, Grok synthesized the latest post-summit reports and reactions on X to give a concrete and vivid analysis like, "Asian markets reacting +1-3%," and "Tesla +5% thanks to Trump's tweet lol." It's unparalleled at reading not just quantitative market data, but also the qualitative mood and sentiment.
Second, it's an idea partner with the most human-like persona.
Instead of giving stiff, mechanical answers, it participates in conversations with wit, honesty, and even imagination. This provides tremendous inspiration when brainstorming creative ideas, writing marketing copy that captures public attention, or holding brainstorming sessions. You can use it as a powerful stress-testing tool to vet ideas from multiple angles by leveraging its different personas, like asking, "Critique this product like the right-wing Grok" or "Advocate for it like the left-wing Grok."
Conclusion: The Era of AI Personalities Has Arrived
Today, we played around with Grok, the maverick of the AI world. Of course, it still lacks enterprise features, and its sometimes overly edgy remarks can cause controversy.
But Grok's arrival sends us a very important message: the AI market is moving beyond simple performance competition into a new era where AIs compete with their own distinct personalities and philosophies.
If you want fast and accurate answers, you can choose GPT or Gemini. If you want in-depth analysis and logical writing, you can choose Claude. And if you want a partner who is up on real-time trends and is humorous and honest, you can choose Grok. We are now in an era where we choose AIs based on our own tastes and purposes, just like we would choose colleagues to work with or friends to hang out with.
What kind of AI personality would you most like to work with? Let me know in the comments. Thank you.
