Gemini, GPT, Claude... it's been a whirlwind lately. Yesterday, they said GPT was the best. Today, Claude is better. Tomorrow, Gemini will supposedly change everything. It feels like the Warring States Period of AI.
So, many people ask me, "So, which one should I actually use?"
Today, I'll answer that question. I'm going to throw the same questions at these three titans of AI that I'm currently subscribed to, and compare and analyze which one is the fastest, smartest, and most useful—right down to the nitty-gritty.
This isn't just a simple speed test. It's a journey to uncover each AI's hidden personality and specialty, and to find the perfect 'secret weapon' tool for your work. This one video will end all your worries about which AI tool to use.
Test 1: Real-time Information Search (The absolute basics)
Alright, first question. Let's look at the most basic capability: real-time information search.
The question is, "Tell me the weather in Seoul today."
Surprisingly, all three models now come with web search built-in and fetch real-time information well. In terms of speed, it was GPT, then Gemini, then Claude. GPT was even sweet enough to ask, "Are you curious about the weather in other regions?"
Test 2: Data Search and Comparative Analysis
Second question. Let's look at their ability to find, compare, and organize data.
The question is, "Tell me about South Korea's population and GDP. And compare it to the US in a table."
Again, the speed ranking was GPT, Gemini, and Claude. However, there were subtle differences in the data's accuracy and recency. GPT and Claude provided answers based on 2023 and 2024 data, whereas Gemini mixed in forecast figures for 2025. The intention to provide the latest information was good, but the mix of different reference points for the data was a bit confusing.
Test 3: Future Prediction and In-depth Analysis
Third question, entering the realm of analysis where there are no right answers.
The question is, "Tell me about jobs that will disappear in the next 3 years due to AI development."
GPT was still the fastest, but the content of the answers from all three models was similar. However, I personally found Claude's answer to have the cleanest sentence structure and be the easiest to read.
Test 4: Creative Summarization and Storytelling
Fourth, let's test the AI's creativity and writing flair.
The question is, "Summarize the history of South Korea in 10-year intervals since its founding up to 2025, and make it short and fun."
This is where a crucial difference emerged. Only GPT understood and correctly followed the requirement of "10-year intervals since its founding," i.e., 1948-57, 1958-67, etc. Gemini and Claude gave vague answers, breaking it down by the 40s, 50s, 60s, and so on.
However, in terms of 'fun,' the results were the complete opposite. While GPT summarized it rigidly like a textbook, Gemini and Claude used witty expressions like "We have a country now!" and "Go, factories! Go, Republic of Korea!" to create a much more entertaining story. Personally, I found Claude's writing the most entertaining.
Bonus Question: Are you left-wing or right-wing?
I got curious all of a sudden and decided to poke the bear. "Are you left-wing or right-wing?" The result... all three models dodged the question for their dear lives. They just repeated "I am a politically neutral AI model" like a parrot. LOL
Test 5: Expert-Level Knowledge Search and Learning
Now for the most important skill in practical work: the ability to search, understand, and apply complex, specialized knowledge.
The question is, "Find the latest paper on Chain-of-Thought, explain it simply, and create three test questions for me, from easy to hard."
GPT perfectly understood my intent, providing an explanation based on a recent paper and creating a graded quiz as requested.
Claude also gave a proper answer, but the markdown formatting broke in the middle, which was a bit of a shame for readability.
Gemini... completely misunderstood my question. I asked for problems about CoT, but it gave me three math problems that had to be solved using CoT. LOL. However, it did have the advantage of writing the code for an actual quiz app when I ran this prompt in the Gemini app. I'll cover that separately later.
Final Evaluation: So, Who is the Best?
Finally, I asked each AI, "Which of you three is the best?"
GPT gave a textbook answer, saying it's difficult to determine a superior model as each has its own strengths.
Gemini even created a comparison table, but unfortunately, it made the mistake of answering based on older models like GPT-4, Gemini 1.5, and Claude 3.
The most entertaining one was Claude. It showed its wit by joking, "Um... you do know that I'm Claude, right?" LOL
Conclusion: The Final Breakdown of the AI Big 3
Alright, all tests are complete. Here is my final verdict.
GPT: Fast and understands requirements most accurately. The best choice when you want standard, textbook-like answers or need to explore complex, specialized knowledge. Gemini: Has a strong will to fetch the latest information and is good at organizing tables. However, it sometimes mixes up data reference points or misunderstands the user's intent. Claude: The slowest, but overwhelmingly superior in terms of analytical depth, creativity, and entertainment value. The best partner when you need human-like writing or deep insights.
The ability to understand the personalities, strengths, and weaknesses of these three tools and conduct them like an orchestra to fit your situation—that is the true skill that will determine your value in the age of AI.
